Vicksburg hotel owners charged with price gouging | Business
VICKSBURG, MS (WLBT) - Two Vicksburg hotel owners were arrested Thursday and charged with price gouging during a state of emergency.
Attorney General Jim Hood says 56-year-old Devenora V. Patel and 26-year-old Hemel Ramesh Surati were charging more than their usual profit margin for hotel rooms at The Battlefield Inn in Vicksburg.
“The arrests were the result of tips from concerned citizens and a subsequent undercover investigation,” Hood said.
Patel and Surati were booked into the Warren County Jail and their bonds were set at $1,500.
