Vicksburg Farmers' Market opens Saturday

The Vicksburg Farmers' Market kicks off Saturday on the corner of Washington and Jackson streets.

The market will be open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. through July 27.

Stop the Violence Walk set for Saturday

VICKSBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) - The Vicksburg Police Department is asking residents to meet on the steps of Vicksburg City Hall Saturday morning to walk against crime.

The Stop the Violence Walk will show support for crime victims. The walk will start at 9 a.m. at City Hall and end at the Warren County Courthouse.

Families who have been affected by crime along with watch groups, churches and businesses are encouraged to attend.

Experience the rich Tapestry of early Vicksburg life. Explore the fabric of Vicksburg society with tours of our historic homes and hallways. Enjoy interpretive presentations of Vicksburg’s history that bring to life the heritage and culture of this remarkable river city.

Fifteen of Vicksburg’s most historic properties will tell their stories from antebellum grandeur to the Siege of Vicksburg to the turn of the 20th Century. Together these stories weave the Tapestry of who we are today.

Ticket prices for Tapestry 2013 events are $30 for three presentations or $15 for one presentation. Tickets are available at each venue and at the Vicksburg Visitor Information Center, 52 Old Hwy 27, 601-636-9421 or 800-221-3536.

Fundraiser Wednesday for Vicksburg businesses affected by fire

The Vicksburg Main Street Program invites the public to a fundraiser Wednesday for the businesses affected by the March 14 fire in Downtown Vicksburg.

The fundraiser is Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lillian's Restaurant. Spaghetti lunch plates will be available for $10. There will also be a silent auction.

To purchase a plate lunch, call the Main Street office at 601-634-4527.

The City of Vicksburg has released its summer pool scheduled. The pool will open Memorial Day, May 27.

Skylar Laine, Michael Grimm to headline 26th annual RiverFest

Skylar Laine and Michael Grimm will headline the 26th annual Vicksburg RiverFest Music and Arts Festival.

The festival is April 19-20 in historic downtown Vicksburg. Brandon native and American Idol finalist Skylar Laine will perform Friday night. Waveland native and America's Got Talent winner Michael Grimm will perform Saturday night.

Other entertainment includes:
