Vicksburg man killed in shooting | Crime

A 20-year-old Vicksburg man was found dead in his yard by family members early Friday morning.

According to the Vicksburg Police Department, family members of Willie Jones found the man dead from a gunshot wound at 280 Curry St., in Vicksburg.

Police responded to the scene just before 3 a.m. Friday. Investigators received information that Jones had an undetermined amount of cash and a Nokia cell phone, neither have been located.

Vicksburg police have detained two persons of interest, but no charges have been filed. A motive for the shooting hasn't been determined, nor has a murder weapon been found.

Chief Walter Armstrong said the area where the victim was found also appears to be the primary crime scene. Armstrong described this as an active and ongoing investigation
