Funeral home president celebrates 90th birthday | News
VICKSBURG, MS (WLBT)- Robert Jefferson, Sr., the president of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home and Burial Association is celebrating his 90th birthday Friday, July 6th.
His business, which he is still active in, is the oldest black business in Mississippi.
Jefferson was born July 6, 1922, the same day his uncle and family business co-rounder W. H. Jefferson died.
Robert Jefferson was well-known in the 1940s and 1950s when he served as Vicksburg entertainment reporter for Jet and Ebony Magazines, The Baltimore Afro-American, The Pittsburgh Courier and other publications with a national circulation.
Jefferson lives with his wife Athenia in Vicksburg.
