Autopsy: Vicksburg inmate died of suicide
VICKSBURG, MS (WLBT)- An autopsy report has been released in the death of a Vicksburg inmate this week.
Vicksburg police say according to the autopsy 37-year-old Ryan Maddox's death has been ruled a suicide by ligature strangulation.
Maddox was found unresponsive in a holding cell Wednesday at police headquarters shortly after his arrest. He had been charged with burglary of a storage shed after a rim and tire were reported stolen in the 700 block of National Street.
Police say Maddox was detained in the holding cell by himself with a set of restraints.
Maddox was transported to River Region Medical Center and pronounced dead at 3:57 p.m.
