Authorities investigating disappearance of Vicksburg woman

WARREN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the disappearance of a 30-year-old Vicksburg woman who was last seen more than a week ago.

Authorities say family members reported Shanell Stowers missing Oct. 5. The family last spoke with Stowers on Oct. 4. She was scheduled to pick up one of her children from a relative’s home for a doctor’s appointment in the morning on Oct. 5 but never showed up.

Her green Saturn sedan was found about a mile from a family member’s home with the key in the ignition on the side of Old Jackson Road at about 9 a.m. Friday.

The family tried unsuccessfully to make contact with Stowers on Oct. 5 and eventually moved her car that afternoon to a family member’s home. She was reported missing around 6 p.m.

Authorities say they have found no physical evidence of foul play but are not ruling anything out at this point.

Stowers is a 30-year-old African American and is approximately 5-feet, 4-inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds. She has medium length natural hair, according to police.

Anyone who has seen or may know the whereabouts of Stowers is asked to contact the Warren County Sheriff’s Office at 601-636-1761 or Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477.
